I use SSE on my movie computer and my sons computer.
On my sons computer (Celeron2400mhz) it gives a very big increase, some up to maybe 75%.
How ever on my movie computer (AMDXP2600+) it only increases marginally like 25%.
On my server (AMD64,3000+) I use SSE2, it gives also just a slight improvement 30% perhaps.
How ever it is well worth optimizing ...

OK, I fibbed and bit the bullet (tastes like copper-jacketed lead chicken :p).

Ok.. I'm new to optimizing the Boinc client... Which one should I use? I'm running Windows Xp Pro(32 bit) on a AMD Anthlon XP 64 FX 53. Been getting quite a few WU's that are in the 13 hour range that would usually be in the 4 hour area. And then where would I find the optimized client?

Hm I still run 5.15 anyway... so the question is, do you have a AMD XP or a AMD 64 ? if it is a AMD XP you should try this one...
SSE-optimized 5.15
if it is a AMD 64 you should use this one... SSE2-optimized 5.15 app (I would try this one first if I where you !)

I tried both of those also.. came up with the same kind of error..looks like I'll be waiting for the standard app to hit 5.17 then I'll use an optimized app.

I wonder if it was just the fact that the current wu's were "linked" to the 5.17 app, I had that happen on a box, all the wu's in my cash errored out, then it re-downloaded all new work and it was fine.

btw, I am using chicken 5.15 on all of my machines now. my RAC is still climbing.. I think it's been since Monday late afternoon since they've been running with the optimization. I removed crunch3r and decided to go with chicken. don't know why, just did... so far, so good...

I'm also changed to chicken 5.15 except the Celeron and AMD XP mashines...

Inital results show around a 10% improvement. It'll take a lot more for a better feel, but it's looks very promising .
