opitimizing?
 (United States)
I've noticed this section is mostly all old, so im wondering if optimization is no longer required, deemed worth it, or do you guys just optimise in the background and not share with us newbies?

Those are the only two I know of.  Einstein used to have optimized clients, but I think they disallowed them a while ago, and incorporated some of the optimizations into their stock clients.

For SETI, one should go to the first link you provided- http://calbe.dw70.de/seti.html  The lunatics.at team developed the latest versions for the multibeam work, but Chicken has yet to update his site.

Also, optimisation can only be done on a project that releases it's source code, SETI being about the only one that does.

You also have to realize that once you manually install an optimized app for a project, BOINC will no longer update that app automatically as new stock or optimized apps are released!

From then on, keeping track of new releases and upgrading manually is on you!

Being lazy with an attitude (if a project wants better performance, let them give it to me), I mostly don't bother.
