Ok, I goofed and named it wrong. This is the Boinc Manager program. Not the SETI client

Couple tidbits here, he does have a 32 bit BOINC optimized client also, based on BOINC 5.7.xx, which has been in beta for like forever. Don't know why 5.7.xx hasn't been released by Berkeley, perhaps because there is nothing seriously wrong with 5.4.11, and they can't afford the bandwidth hit. Just speculation on my part, though.

What this optimized BOINC client does do, is give you processor affinity and returns results immediately. If these features are what you are looking for, then by all means check it out.

Cool! Now if I can just get my 64bit XP to recognise and work with my wireless NIC I'll be set! :p

Stick a fork in me! I'm done! I'm slidding in with both feet, a cold beer in one hand, a hot blonde on the other and yelling "YeeHaw! What a ride!"

Are these only for Intel or Core 2 duo mashines !

I'd try to install it on my AMD 64 3000+ and I got this error ?

The 32 bits did work but this AMD is suppose to support 64 bit, that is why it's named AMD64 !

This program only works with a 64 bit operating system like winXP 64 bit. if you are use standard winXP or win2K it will not work.

you need a 64 bit OS and a 64 bit cpu to make it work.

Yes I just noticed, I run win2K and still will do that.

I tryed to install it on my Core 2 duo and it didn't work there either

win2K is a 32 bit operating system. use the 32 bit version for win2K.

at the present time, only WinXP pro 64 bit, Win2003 server 64 bit and some versions of windows Vista are 64 bit OS's.

Hm, I don't know...

My 64 bit WUs are just as fast as others who run them on XP in times, both on my AMD64 and my Core 2 duo,

so I don't understand the difference really

I think it has to do with the cpu affinity, but since Installing it, my RAC on this machine has gone up over 100 points!

Is it just for 64 bit XP or just for 64 bit cpu's?

My RAC have climbed 100CS the latest week without the new BOINC,

earlier it was at most 1240 CS/ per week, this last week I had 1329.6 CS

which is about 90 more than earlier...

I actually noticed this earlier today and wondered if there was some changes in WU credits lately.

How ever I will test the 32bit version now and see if there is any differnce on my AMD...

not that I think so...

Re: 64 bit windows BOINC manager client available.

Hm, yes, now I have run the new BOINC for a day and yes, there is a slight improvement.

If not in time exactly but you get a slightly better ratio in credits.

Earlier it was around 1CS per every 155 sec, and now it 1CS per every 145 sec.
which is an improvement with around 5%.

The improvement is the same on different system, both the Core 2 Duo and the AMD64.

It's not much but I'll take it
