Time for new logo?  (United States)
Modified By boog on 9/6/2007 5:56:41 AM
Time for a new team logo since the BOINC logo changed?

What do you guys think?

Re: Time for new logo?  (United States)
That's much better, I'd like to maybe email the designer who did the new BOINC logo, find out what he used, app, font, effects, etc. Then do the "Team Starfire World" part in the same way.

I'll see if I can find time later this morning to email him. I had already done a search on his BOINC work, he resides in Europe somewhere, IIRC. I should be home waiting for the sat. guy today, so should have time.

Looks great so far.

Don't forget the logo for the stats site too!

Thanks for the work in this stuff.

Not bad!  A little tweaking and it'll look fantastic.

Way better than my efforts!

My only real observation is that the shadows conflict, BOINC to the left and TSW to the right.

I fixed the shadow, but, Paul, if you can get the font, that would be awesome! Then I'll finish this one and the others, like stats n stones.

Yes, I received a nice reply from the designer, and he sent the files he used in Corel Draw. look below my stats counter for the zip file...

Re: Time for new logo?  (United States)

There's more than just Corel in the archive.  There's an Adobe Illustrator file, a PNG file, a PDF, and a GIF.  Enough to be used in virtually any program out there.

Corel has a 15 day free trial, but the other files should be able to be used in Photoshop too.

I still couldn't figure out the font, but the files were awesome anyway! They helped quite a bit. After hunting though my fonts, it looks like one named kimberly matched fairly well.

Here is what I have ended up with so far, some more input would be nice, if someone has some ideas of something to add or change they are welcome.

Actually after seeing it here I saw a couple things I wanted to fix, so I revised it again. Isn't that my normal? haha

I see the width of the design is the same, but the height is much different. How will this look on top of the current site design?

I may be somewhat skewered, since I run 1920x1200 res. on this laptop

Re: Time for new logo?  (United States)
The size is slightly different, but I think it can be scaled a bit to match better. With the new BOINC logo the size just didn't feel right and made things not fit the same way as the old one.

nutcase, the spinning globe is awesome. I personally like the fast spinning one the best, it seems to be a bit smoother.

Re: Time for new logo?  (United States)
just playing around, making a quick and dirty wide, but not too tall logo, just to see what it looks like. What I just realized, is that if you have a taller logo, with the design of this site, you'll lose a little bit of useable page space, also I know we count on using the logo in our sigs, say, at BOINC forums

this is what it looks like when you set it to the same height as the old logo:
