I still run the TSWB BOINC 5.8.8 client and I've been accused of cheating and that
that this BOINC version have higher benchmarks than the official BOINC version.
Se this thread at Milkyway@home

Is this so ???

First thing, We do not have a Boinc client!

if you are using BOINC version 5.8.8, You need to update. 5.8.8 was Crunch3R's optimized 32 bit client which all his optimized functions were integrated into the official version. Crunch3R only has a 64 bit client available now.

Latest BOINC version is 5.10.28 which can be downloaded here:

http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php

if any of those Idiots over there had bothered to check the Returned WU's, They would have found that problems were found while running the Data. Either the Batch of Wu's or the Core Client has a memory leak which it is showing in the returned result.

as for why your benchmarks are so High, I have no friggin Idea?

Hm, we haven't ???

It certainly says "TSWB - BOINC Client" all the way.

I have made an own skin to it though,

How ever it could of course be the Crunch3rs version, a bit modified.
I haven't done anything to the benchmarks, seriously, I wouldn't know how even if I wanted to...

I use Win2K and that's why I still have to use the 32bits version of BOINC and can't update to any 64 bit version. Also I like the "report WUs immediately function" only found in this client, also I did a big job on the new skin, not sure if it would be compatible with the new versions of BOINC...

I'm thinking about changing to Cosmology@home instead, they don't use benchmarks at all, everybody gets 100 CS for every WU they crunch, regardless of what computer they crunch it on. But they have a quorum of 2 so they check the WUs for consistency, At least then you can't be accused for cheating with benchmarks !

Crystallize, you're simply using our team skin that boog made up for us a while back along with a very old BOINC client (5.8.8).

All you need to do is delete the BOINC client, you won't lose any of the wu you have, download and install the current version that nutcase linked and problem solved.

edit: my mistake, that's not our team skin from boog. Is this one you made up?

I think you did your skins based on Boog's skins right? That's why it has all the TSWB labelling.

That said, it really is time to update to a newer BOINC version IMHO. I know you can't "return results immediately", but you can adjust your settings so it's very close to doing that.

That thread reminds me of Monty Python!

CROWD:
A witch! A witch! A witch! A witch! We've found a witch! A witch! A witch! A witch! A witch! We've got a witch! A witch! A witch! Burn her! Burn her! Burn her! We've found a witch! We've found a witch! A witch! A witch! A witch!
VILLAGER #1:
We have found a witch. May we burn her?
CROWD:
Burn her! Burn! Burn her! Burn her!
BEDEVERE:
How do you know she is a witch?
VILLAGER #2:
She looks like one.

Yes, I suppose so.

Not if I also want to keep a cache which is absolutely necasery ... you have no idea of the long latency time over here in Sweden to get new WUs, yuo always get "No work from project" at least 2 times of 3 due to "timeout conneting", even if the project server is functioning properly, some projects are better than others but non of them acceptable. With short WU projects like Milkyway with only a few minutes per WU you'd have your PC not runing anything for over half the time,

I'm kind of fond of this Boinc client, it simple and works fine !

I suppose Cosmology@home could have been a choice if I don't want to change client, since it's benchmark unsensitive, how ever the Cosmology@home WUs uses insane amouts of RAM, around 200-300 MB per core and on a dual core that is about 500 MB which is way too much and makes my computer lag...

As for the otherthings you said, well, I better not give my opinion,
I'm not here to fight and  I could of course go and crunch elsewhere ... if you think that is better... '

And really, I think I've been on TSWB almost a year now, and I never been able to stick around on one team longer...

There is always some trash heads starting to make comments like that  ...

maybe it is time to move on again !

Crystallize, Kinguni's comment about the Monty Python skit was a reaction to how the thread at milkyway was calling everybody "cheaters", and on a witch hunt.

You'll do whatever you want, but i see no need for you to crunch elsewhere over this matter.

From your posts here over the past year, I think most of the problems are simple translation problems. Humor is always subject to misinterpretation, especially if the language is not one's primary. In no way was Kinguni referring to you with the witch hunt, save for you were caught up in a thread dealing with supposedly cheaters.

His Monty Python skit was an attempt to make the finger pointers look bad, wanting to burn someone at the stake just because they look like (or were mentioned along with) behaviours that _could_ be looked upon as cheating.

Um, must be the language barrier.

I was referring to that Milkyway@Home thread being a witch hunt, meaning a group of people are looking for people doing something wrong, and in the case of BOINC projects, cheating, when in all likelihood no crime is being committed. The lines are frrom Monty Python and the Holy Grail, a film which many of us here hold dear. Here is a link to the scene in the movie those lines come from: http://www.mwscomp.com/movies/grail/grail-05.htm

Sorry if you misunderstood what I was getting at.
