Holiday shutdown  (United States)

I have told my computers to not get any new tasks.  I will let them bleed themselves out of work.  Between moving datacenters and the holiday, I thought it would be the best bet.

I will start back up after Christmas.

No worries Drizzt, thanks for sharing your servers with us!

By the way - did you recently bid on an Ebay auction for a 1GB DDR2 667 RAM kit? I'm selling some, and I see "Jaxom100" as a previous bidder. Wondering if that is you...

Re: Holiday shutdown  (Canada)
Gotta do what you gotta do. I wouldn't like the thought of something going wrong while on holidays.

Jack -Nope..  Not me.

I guess someone else likes "The Dragonriders of Pern" books as well.  Jaxom was the name of the rider of the "White Dragon" named Ruth.

Anne McCaffrey wrote them.

The main reason I am going offline is that most of the computers are test servers.  We are moving DCs during the holiday season, and the test servers will be the last to be Racked and turned back on.

Re: Holiday shutdown  (United States)

I've got (I think) all the adult versions of the Dragonriders books.  However, it wasn't me that bid, either.

I've started working on Elizabeth Moon's books now.  I got started after being presented with a signed, leather bound, first edition of her book "The Speed of Dark".  She's a neat lady and I sometimes see her.  Helped wrangle some of her cattle a few months ago.  (Book was my reward for helping resurect her computer 1 week before a publisher's deadline.  Got a mention in the "ackowledgements" of that book, too.)

That is a cool story!

Re: Holiday shutdown  (United States)

I'm also shutting down until after Christmas.  (Gotta go play with the grandkids.)

Y'all have a merry Christmas, ya hear?
