Sigh, even getting you guys pissed at me has made me realize I do miss the conversations we used to have. Le Sigh. Lemme get around to creating Stratofortress2.... Dammit. However, I want to be concisely clear on one point: I still do not like the split, I have realized (again) I have people I like here and at DSLR so I'm not leaving that team and for the love of $DIETY if anyone calls me on the carpet here or there, there will be a reckoning of carpet bombing proportions. Yes, I even miss Xaak, though I still mostly think he needs to die in a fire And since I've never been one to skulk about, I'm positing it publicly and not "stealth" joining. Unless you guys don't want me here (and I'm not saying this facetiously, I know I rub a lot of people the wrong way most of the time), in which case I will bid you peace and farewell.

Luckily for me, I had already faced the firing squad years ago and left *the* team, drawing the ire of people now on both teams. [EMO]tonguestickout.gif[/EMO]
I say, pull up a chair and hang out here. You don't have to jump ship unless you want to. I'll welcome you either way.

As much as I may disagree with Justin's running of the site, DSLR has a huge place in my heart for when I got started on broadband and for the ammunition it provided me for drilling @Home for their lousy service.
I made a promise to keep crunching there, and I'm going to keep it but yah, I do miss a lot of the folks here, so this is like a vacation home :).

Well, unless things have changed drastically overnight, our policy has always been one of an open door, all are welcome. So welcome (back to) the team.
Free at last to speak our minds.
Free at last to crunch our projects of choice.

Welcome aboard GUNR! Glad to have you with us even if only partially so. We don't turn away old friends.
Stick a fork in me! I'm done!

We here, back to our beginnings, have always had a policy of once a member, always a member, and that will never change. There's no requirement for crunching for us to hang out here. So hang out here all you want.
Yeah, we butted heads a few times, and teamed up a few times when we needed to. Conflict is sometimes a good thing .

Well, I can say first hand that TSWB won't care if you crunch for more than one team like ....COUGH....seti usa....COUGH....does. Now those guys were a bunch of parinoid assbags. [EMO]tonguestickout.gif[/EMO] Welcome to the team [EMO]smile.gif[/EMO]

Ya think we should duck when a tailgunner talks about carpet bombing, or should we hold off on running for cover until he yells "Spray'n'Pray"?

B52GUNR, you're welcome here regardless whom you crunch for. All we ever wanted was a place that was fun and didn't have to worry if someone was going to lock a thread just because they didn't like you on that day. We wanted a place that we could crunch anything we wanted. We wanted a place that if you found something that you wanted to crunch we didn't have to jump through hoops to get it approved. We wanted a place that anyone can join the forum and participate even though they crunch for someone else. Guess what...We have what we wanted!
It has been my experience that folks who have no vices have very few virtues

Well said Sat_Man, you summed it up very nicely.

With everything that comes, so does it go. I've missed several of the people from the old place - you included gunr - and I'm glad you are here and hope you stop by often. And I think you know by now you are welcome here. NUFF SAID.

As it has been said above, we don't turn anyone away from here. You are more than welcome to come and chat, even if you crunch for another team. The door is always open. Welcome back and please, stay awhile.
If you can't beat'em, join'em. Then beat'em.

The conversation was a big part of the reason I made the move. (that and having the majority of the people I know moving)
In the old days, there were NO topics off limits in the team forum. You'd see posts of King and Anarky thowing punches, above one about someone's new house, and below one about moving to a new state. And sure, sometimes we talked about Berk. :)
I try not to knock what it's become, some people prefer it that way. Just not me. You should be warned though, if you are going to hang out here with the big boys,(and girls) we might poke you once in awhile just to make sure you are still breathing.

Glad to see you with us.
There's a whole 'nuther world out there with the BOINC engine, and that's what the members here came to do. I've been in the DC thing for a long time now, evolved so I'm into BOINC, not any particular project.
And that is what is truly at the heart of this, no matter what conceptions one may have developed in the last few years. I've set aside SETI, and am attached to maybe a dozen projects across the fleet. I've checked out so many projects that now my priority is to reach a million credits in as many projects as feasible, for the most part. At the same time, I'm almost always in the first wave of volunteers attaching to a new project, some of which are pretty exciting. It's so far advanced now, one almost feels sorry for teams that continue to focus on one project. We saw that soon after development of BOINC had begun, matured, and became the foundation of SETI@Home Enhanced.
I'm into several artifical intelligence projects, some nanotechnology projects, disease research, mathematical projects mostly. This really is the ground floor of the future of research, what some people who are firmly entenched in one project just can't seem to grasp. BOINC is the way of distributed computing now and in the future.
It matters naught what project you run, BOINC is an umbrella for DC enthusiasts, broaden your horizons, realize the possibilities now, and in the future!
Paul

Wow look what the cat drug in......don't they usually bury this in sand [EMO]wink.gif[/EMO] I kid, I kid [EMO]smile.gif[/EMO] It's good to see you Gunner. I have to say I like the split because I can crunch with people I like here on a project I like without all the rules and crud that goes with the DCS. I still primarily crunch for TA, but these guys earned my respect when they were part of BBR during the Seti races and their forming this team removed the main issue I ever had with doing any regular crunching with them.
