Project suggestion  (Canada)
I have another computer here that I am looking at and I will probably have it a week or so.  I tried to hook into Seti but it seems the server is down.  My other machines are still crunching stored WUs, but they will come to an end as well.

What I need is a suggestion on another project to work on since the Seti server isn't running. I have only run Seti with BOINC.

Thanks...

Re: Project suggestion  (United States)
Greeri suggest earlier today in the channel that Milkyway is giving out some decent credit for people running a 32bit OS.

Re: Project suggestion  (United States)
Yeah I agree, I run milkyway heavily.  The credit is very good compared to any of the other projects I run.

Thank you very much for the input.  I just loaded up the one computer with it and I have two others with it ready to go.  I will start it up after my Seti units are completed.

One thing I just noticed was that I do not see Team Starfire WORLD BOINC listed as my team for Milkyway.  I do have it for my SETI project though.  Is there something I did wrong, or will it show up after I completed my first work unit.  I will see if I can find out if I did something wrong on my end in the meantime.

Thanks again

Never mind.  I went through the steps once again and forgot to click on join this team.  It is all taken care of and I am now crunching Milkyway work units for the team!!!

Re: Project suggestion  (United States)
I usually attach all clients to LHC and pirates, since the rarely have work, they can run side by side with your main project with scarcely any cycles.

After that, the projects are endless, it's really up to you. You like math, Astronomy, medical projects? Unless the clients are Core2 or better, something with relatively short run times would probably be best.

Right now the computers that I am running right now are:

AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4000+ [x86 Family 15 Model 107 Stepping 1]
Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.20GHz [x86 Family 15 Model 4 Stepping 3]
AMD Athlon(tm) XP 3200+ [x86 Family 6 Model 10 Stepping 0]

No Core2 systems up yet.

If you like Math, PrimeGrid is great.  Small wu's and decent credits.

Agreed on Paul's recommendation to always attach Pirates.  WU's take, at most, 3 minutes.  Before you even know you got work, it's done.  It's taken me 2 years to get to 1500 credits, but it's fun to watch.

Some of the latest Pirates WU's have taken 10 minutes! If you get a chance and see one running, do run the graphics for a bit. I'm always attached to Pirates and LHC, but as said already, the WU's are few and far between.

Hm, I use to run Milkyway earlier but there was some problems because I quit it,
can't remember what it was at the moment ... but it must have been something serious about the credits!

Hmmmmm, so you say it might be worth it instead of  SETI with optimized app. in credit wise ?

Re: Project suggestion  (United States)
a few months ago they adjusted the credit and the ratio was terrible for awhile.  They have since adjusted it again.

As you know I have not been running Milkyway that long.  This is what I have accomplished so far.  Also keep in mind that I still have SETI work units that are being crunched along side of my Milkyway work units
