PrimeGrid's 2009 Challenge Series starts off with a fire cracker bang! Please come join us in the Chinese New Year, the Year of the Ox, for a 5 day (120 hour) Challenge on PrimeGrid's 321 Prime Search (LLR) application.

To participate in the Challenge, please select only the 321 Prime Search (LLR) project in your PrimeGrid preferences section. The challenge will begin 26 January 2009 18:00 UTC and end 31 January 2009 18:00 UTC. Application builds are available for Linux 32 bit and Windows 32 bit. These applications will be sent to 64 bit clients. As with all LLR application projects, there is no advantage of 64 bit over 32 bit.

I have some uptodate processors so I should be able to produce a lot more work than before.

Hmmm... don't know if I'm going to participate this time. Currently, Seti is my focus because we want to stomp, we need to stomp and we're going to stomp! :D
Last time running PG for 5 days in a challenge, my Seti RAC dropped a lot for 10 days or more than that. So underground that It was looking like the Marianas Trench.

Nothing wrong with taking part in the Challenge. After all, we crunch what we want around here, not what someone tells us to. Think I'll be sitting this one out to keep the SETI rac up though, although I must admit now that I have AstroPulse running my pending credit is through the roof! It will all balance out in the end.

I don't know about anyone else, but every time I have run an AstroPulse work unit, the pending credits have been quite high, but it takes forever to complete and not once can  find that I ever got credit for them.  I always end up with 0 for all of them, so I delete them whenever I know I have them in queue.

The other fast systems I had running MilkyWay are gone back to their owners so I am left a couple out dated, failing machines.

AstroPulse is strange, and they were having problems with the validator. I have the latest optimized version installed on 2 computers and they do complete much faster than stock, but I did set it up on my account only to get AstroPulse WU's if there's no SETI avaialble. Rather than aborting if you don't want to run them turn it off on your account page. They did clear a huge backlog off AStroPulse WU's waiting for validation yesterday.

Thanks for the info.  I didn't know I was able to turn it off.  I have done so now.

We are bouncing around # 25 and I'm at 50 something.  seems very few folks are doing this challenge.

The long wu's take alot of the fun out of the competition, and on my linux box i can't tell how far I am through the wu.   I'll be heading home in a little bit and I should have a wu or 2 ready to send.
