Plea for help  (United States)
As you may - or may not know -

3Dnow and ESL are in a harried battle in SPIN -

There is some history here and would rather not get into it at the moment.

But just lets say that in my opinion, ESL did not play fairly.

Many members of SETI.USA including MAC, and JV, myself and others have joined 3Dnow's team in an effort to help 3Dnow.

Seti.USA and 3Dnow have had their battles, over the past year some good with bad words but in the end, we have learned to respect each other.

It is my wish that others join in the battle to help 3Dnow -

The race is first to 15 million

If you choose to help - please join 3Dnow's team and crunch like made.

ESL just had a new cruncher appear today - 70+ Quad core machines - not sure where this guy came from, but he is a serious threat and 3Dnow could use every CPU cycle they can get to battle.

Appreciated.

Think I'll pass too. Especially after all the shit I caught from seti usa management when I came over here to help out my former team mates (these guys)  when they split from BroadBand Reports .Com  Nothing against you personally, but seti usa and friends can rot for all I care.    Sorry Gary...it had to be said.

Re: Plea for help  (Sweden)
Hm, hm, I think "Sir Ulli" is/or at least was a member of 3D now, a German team if I recall righ...(someone that I actually considered a friend for a long time, a few years back)

Not going to join them, obvioulsy...

How ever I did get another, almost tempting invitation from a team that actually takes up the problems that I currently have had on the main SETI forum,
about that I can't write a post on the main SETI forum, trival or not without being banned for a month or so.

Finding that the founder of the team is a person who also is a female doesn't make me less considering, actually almost makes my hole point... but....
... well, I can't find it to bee a real solusion either, so I'm still staying put, until further notice ...

How ever I do find this problem to be a many more times troubleling that the current "credit discussion" ...

I don't understand - why should we show loyalty to another team instead of our own?

I'll wish you well, but all my cycles are for *this* team.

It's not like you'd be changing teams permanently. They are asking for help getting to 15 million then everyone can go back to their teams and take their Credit with them.

Well, actually the credit would stay there, but I couldn't fault anyone from helping them out, however, my cpu cycles belong to this team.

What Kinguni said.

The credit stays with them and doesn't come back here to TSWB, so our team suffers from this idea.

I like that idea! We do have an old team we'd like to stomp in SETI a little faster than what they stats say we will.

I hate to debate this but when I leave a team thats using BOINC the points come with me. Folding@home, to the best of my knowledge, is the only prog that leaves your credits on a teams list after you leave. if you don't believe me look at the littlewhitedog teams seti, cpdn, and Rosetta. I was on all 3 projects for that team and when I left the credits did as well.

Re: Plea for help  (United States)

You're correct, they do come with you, and you no longer show up on their team list.  However, when you leave, the credits you crunched aren't deducted from the team, and when you move to a new team, whatever credits you have don't get added to the team's total.  In other words, your credits are always your own, but when you're a member of a team, the credits you crunch for that team stay with the team's totals, and don't move to the new team's totals.  There is one exception I know of in BOINC, and that's climateprediction.net.  I think that stems from their past when they had both non-boinc and boinc clients.

A simple proof of this is if you add all of our member's total boinc credits, it exceeds our team total.
