I'm Back!
 (United States)

Howdy ya'll!

Well I finally got around to firing up one of the computers I had sitting around collecting dust. And come to find out it still had BOINC installed and so I updated to the latest version from Berk and attached to the projects I've been signed up for.

So CHUQBEL is back up and crunching!!!

If I can find a deal on a 4 port KVM that will work with my Microsoft keyboard I might even get my other spare computer up and running.

See ya in the stars!!

Stick a fork in me! I'm done! I'm slidding in with both feet, a cold beer in one hand, a hot blonde on the other and yelling "YeeHaw! What a ride!"

Hey, great to see you around again.

What kind of keyboard, is it USB or wireless?

I have a 4 port Belkin OmniView with a set of 4 cables around here someplace.  It has ps2 style connectors but can use ps2-usb adapters.  PM if you're interested.

It's a PS2/USB (has both connectors) and while it works fine with my linksys 2 port (PS2 style) it doesn't seem to want to work with my 4 port PS2 style (can't remember what brand ATM).

Here's link:    http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-C17-00001-Internet-Keyboard-Pro/dp/B00005MA9V

It's a Microsoft Inernet Pro that I've had for several years.

Ok, when you say it doesn't work, do you mean the extended hot keys, or the whole keyboard?  Extended keys are notoriously hard to deal with on KVMs because the kvm has to fool the computer into thinking the keyboard and mouse is always connected, so it uses a "standard" keyboard emulator to do so.  I've had experience with extended keyboards that work fine if you boot with the KVM switched to that box, and don't switch to another, but most of them lose the extended functionality once you switch to a different machine and switch back again.

One solution is to keep the good keyboard directly wired to your main computer via usb, and get another one for the KVM, that way you don't lose functionality on your main computer.  Another solution is to get a KVM that fully supports USB keyboards, and they tend to be more expensive.

HTH.

It doesn't work period on any PC when using the 4 port. My Microsoft Trackball (USB with PS2 adapter) works fine with either of my KVM's.

I'll have to try the dual keyboard trick and see if that works. I believe I have a plane jane keyboard laying around somewhere I can use. I really don't need all the extended key functions on any of the machines other then my primary so that might just work.

Thanks!
