We're really a bunch of old time DC people,

With a few (relative) youngins.

Well, considering the start of DC was in the late 90's really, old time DC people aren't really that old!

Aw shoot! that's OOOOLLLDDDDD school! I started back when the WUs would be delivered via "Sneaker-net" on punch-cards, each WU weighed 15lbs and took two giant redwoods to make.... It was a nice day when the TRS80 (aka Trash-80) and 10" floppy disks came out, still had to use sneaker-net, but it cut crunching time by 3 weeks per WU, I remember my best year, I got 7WU finished and started on my 8th.....

Those were the days.....

Um, that would be an 8" floppy .

Whatever, twaz long tymago, can't expect me to remember every detail.....

I was busy jammin out to 8-Track cassettes don't get these new-fangled iPod thingies..... What do they go into? Maybe they make an iPod to 8-Track adapter..... That'd be keen!

Okay, enough acting like I'm older than I really am.... First computer was an Atari 800, not a TRS80.... had carts not disks....

Hi Kinguni et al,

Thanks for a very well measured response to my post. I just get sick of the constant rehashing of the past.  Just a couple of things:

1) I'm sniffing too much Avgas 100LL or JP-4 :).

2) The thumb is far too small to provide proper prostrate stimulation, but thank you very much for the kind offer!

Hah, you almost sound sincere :). Seriously, though, you know me. I talk out my ass, get over it and move on.  I really don't wish anyone here any ill will. Honestly, it would be nice if the hatchet could be buried along with the poor horse. I just don't like the schism it created, and if my perception of anyone's knickers getting in a twist is ill-conceived, well, perception is reality but reality is not always truth.

Crunch on.

Unfortunately, posts like you made on BBR do nothing to bury hatchets, horses, or close schisms. It just riled up alot of people, opened up all the old wounds again, and wound up hurting your team.

So please, feel free to continue .

Yah, the banter was always fun, wasn't it.

Hmm, maybe I'll transfer to this team just to piss off Xaak :).

That might not be a bad idea, at least then I'd be able to post a response and you might actually read it

They suspended my account over there without warning when I posted something someone over there didn't like too much.  But at least they didn't delete my account like they did with Ron.

Go ahead, join and really piss me off [EMO]tonguestickout.gif[/EMO]

My apologies about the thumb thing GUNR, it was posted in the heat of the moment and totally uncalled for!  [EMO]embarrassed.gif[/EMO]

All that any of us that left the other team wanted was to have a unified BOINC team, and be able to crunch any project under the Team Starfire banner.

As of right now we have 56 diferent projects we can crunch, and a site/team that isn't controlled by a DCS from another team.

Actually, we didn't even care if it was the starfire banner, we wanted to do it under any unified banner.  We'd have been perfectly happy with Broadbandreport.com as the unified team name.

Ever wonder why your Einstein, Seti and Climateprediction.net teams all have different names even though they're all "approved" for your team to crunch?  Call it behind the scenes outside influence.

I dunno if this forum could handle you and I going at it again .

To quote from Tombstone:

Doc Holliday: And you must be Ringo. Look, darling, Johnny Ringo. The deadliest pistoleer since Wild Bill, they say. What do you think, darling? Should I hate him?
Kate: You don't even know him.
Doc Holliday: Yes, but there's just something about him. Something around the eyes, I don't know, reminds me of... me. No. I'm sure of it, I hate him.
