I have to thank all of you who still read and post over at BBR for being willing to tell me what was really up with your split. It really hurt me that they were censoring my thread when I was asking simple enough questions. And this is why I don't have a team anymore.
I still don't know 100% what happened, but I know that I'm an adult, and I can choose for myself the information that I want to believe or not. I censor myself, not some moderator who is still upset over something that happened a while ago.
I can only hope that TSWB can learn from the mistake that BBR made today with me, and never, ever do this to it's members....
I'm not here to switch to your team, just to thank those of you who were either standing up for my "rights to information" or passing me information they knew would be deleted from the thread.
Alnero I'm off to hunt for a new team...

I think forming your own opinion is always the best plan. If or when you reach a decision, know that you are welcome here.

Hope you caught my reply (by "cnop") there before they canned it as I predicted. I think it lasted as long as it did only because the mods slept in on Saturday.
To reiterate, THIS IS your old team. Half (or more) of the locked threads here, I started and locked immediately as they were purely informational, not IMNSHO warranting discussion. (Oh, the humanity!)
The only moderation here to to fix up threads that occasionally get borked, or eliminate duplicate replies or a slip of the tongue--then only upon request of the owner of that tongue. (If that made sense...)
Anyway, that's us. YOU still have to go with your heart, and I hope you rediscover that it's with us!

ed.: Forgot to add that--regardless of where you crunch, don't be a stranger here! We're a people team first; crunchers second.

Well glad you got the information, and made an informed choice.
That really is the biggest problem over there, the heavy handed moderation. While I realize that it's needed for some kids there, it does not belong in DC forums, where members are donating huge amounts of time, energy and money to science.
Since TSU has evolved, a lot of the moderators coming from the medical teams. The original group are seriously into heavy moderation, and behind the scenes manipulation. And actually think it's OK to do so. When we went against that group, we were seriously outnumbered, and they didn't want to change their little team, so we failed miserably and were asked to leave.

As others above have stated, I'm glad you got chance to make an informed decision; and the old team is actually here. However, that said I can understand that it is a somewhat difficult position you now find yourself in. Whatever you decide to do with regard to a team, you're always welcome here (the same applies to anybody really, we don't discriminate). Maybe after some time to let things settle down you might consider coming here, but regardless of where you end up, good luck for the future.
Free at last to speak our minds.
Free at last to crunch our projects of choice.

I only saw the thread at the other forum after it was moderated & locked (I usually don't go into the Seti forum anymore). I understand that there is still a lot of anger over the splits that happened, first with Seti USA drawing off a lot of people, and then Team Starfire moving its home to this site. I also understand that probably no good can come from a discussion: Starfire will not return to BBR, so there's little point in discussing the split. But I'm still stunned by the fact that the mods won't let even a minimal discussion take place, only a quick bash at the departed and then lock. Its been quite a number of months. Let it happen, and moderate it (if you must) against personal attacks.
Oh well. I've moved on from there and quite like the united BOINC stats - multiple projects: one user. I would encourage you to find a site that has a united team (which seems like nearly all of them except the divided BBR fiefdoms).

Good to see you again, Alnero.
Yeah, it's really sad what's become of the Seti team over at BBR. Good luck in your search for a new team, and don't forget to stop by from time to time to let us know how things are going with you.

Oh, no worries, I'm done with BBRTS, the only thing they have left for me is the "All Things UNIX" forum (of which I doubt anyone even remembers my creating their logo) and the speed tests (which is why I started visiting DSLR back when I had psudo-broadband DSL). I will likely be in and out of TSWB forums (No more 4-year breaks to join the Army though).
I've not decided on a new team, buy you're all in my top ten list (given that the list only has one team at the moment, TSWB's odds of having me in it are pretty high)
It's been nice actually getting the truth without the flame and over-moderation. It's also nice to see some of the original members who I've not seen posts from in so long...

That would require installing an IRC client, which I've not done in over 10 years.... If I find the need, I'll be sure to join you all in chat, but not today.... Alnero

Actually we have a java chat app. It's not as good as a dedicated client, but it works . Follow the link in the top menu.

Glad to be here, I keep almost replying to my final thoughts http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r20092979-My-final-thoughts but can't bring myself to actually do it.... You know what... I've found my team, they've been right here in front of me this whole time.... Anyone who thinks I shouldn't rejoin my old team speak now or forever hold their peace...... Alnero, glad to have you on the team. I'm sure all of us that made the move know how hard the decision is. As Schn00kie (ID10T) said you won't find any mods deleting posts here. We like to think we are a pretty friendly bunch and we have a lot of fun crunching whatever we want. You can usually find at least a couple of us in IRC any time of the day or night and if you have any questions or need any help with anything we will try our best to help you out.(I wouldn't follow any advice on computer problems I give you though. I don't know beans about them)

No worries, I'll be graduating with a degree in Computer Information Systems in 4 months, and even then, I knew more than some of my first-year instructors. I work for the help-desk at my school to. Unfortunately though, I can't get the network admin to allow me to install BOINC via GPO on every computer on campus, or I'd quickly be taking over most everyone on the team..... Alnero BTW, Yes, the answer HAS always been 42, but we still don't ACTUALLY know what the question is.... Also Paul had you not departed on the line "So long and thanks for all the fish" I was going to.... You beat me to it though.....
