Deleted post at BBR
 (United States)

Since they deleted the post from BBR, I wanted a permanent record of it, and I think it's fitting to post it here.  And no, I'm not here to join up.

Sorry to see you go but before I can say that I will tell you, that you asked a question and it was answered and the fact that the thread was locked had nothing to do with your question, but more of the trolls that like to show up and try to cause trouble.

You are withing to leave then Fine that is your choice, but do not feel that its due to anyone hiding anything, more to the point its more open now and little is taking place behind the scenes.
As this thread shows we can agree and disagree and keep our perspective and keep crunching.

Thats what its all about anyway.

Best of Luck to you

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_troll
--------
An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who posts controversial and usually irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, with the intention of baiting other users into an emotional response or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion.
----------

The problem here was that the troll in this case is one of your own, B52GUNR.

The decision was made, either purposely, or inadvertently by inaction, to see what that troll would attract.

The next mistake was removing posts that were relevent, but might not have agreed with the opionion of those behind the scenes (and yes, I know most of what was deleted). Those things seem to always find their way to the OP.

If there was truley an interest in deleting the troll posts, why was B52GUNR's post allowed to stand?

I have a theory. You were just hoping to play the victim. You were hoping to point your finger at that other team to show how bad they are. You've tried it many times before, but it never seems to work out for you. Now you've apparently driven away two more long time members.

No, your explaination just doesn't add up.

Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

edit- even though your account here and there are brand new, and most certainly will be viewed as being a long time member here, your comments are right on the money.

Very nicely put, and typical of how it has been for years over there, in the forums controlled by the moderators from the other DC teams. Since we left, even the old Seti team has been overrun by the same type of thinking. Myself, I get the biggest kick out of watching it from time to time. How can otherwise intelligent people sit there and stand for that kind of management?

There can be no overmoderation in a DC enthusiast forum. Those who accept behaviour like that are sheeple who agree with the views put forth by those so desperately fighting to hide opposing views.

When I was modding that forum for a brief stint at the end, my experience with the heavy handed moderation in other forums there led me to do my best to keep up discussion, as was done by previous SETI mods. Anything was fine by me, as long as personal attacks and trolling were not involved.

It's no small wonder that people like Hitler can go as far as he did.

It's no small wonder that people like Hitler can go as far as he did.

Never been a member here, very long time member of BBR, but wanted to remain anonymous.  Evidently, anonymous posters in that forum get automatic holds, or maybe it's the watch words or some of the other dirty tricks that the mods resort to these days.

And yes, I know all their tricks on figuring out who someone might be, including the ip hash (and the few who can see the IPs directly).

I quit crunching for them around the time of the split, and had issues with both sides of the dispute.  So call me an interested neutral observer who still has ties over there in other areas that aren't quite as restrictive in their moderation.

Oh, and the Hitler reference is a bit strong, don't you think?  I mean, it's pretty sick to try and compare Hitler, a genocidal maniac responsible for 10's of millions of murders, with a bunch of idiots who run and moderate a website.
