Let's get our project Profiles created!
 (N/A)
dapoohda, this evening in the IRC channel, suggested that we all put forth the effort to create a profile for each project that we belong to. If we all had our profiles done, seems like we would have a bit more exposure, spreading the word in another way about TSWB. Not quite sure if the voting feature works, but we're having a good time in IRC, checking out other's profiles and clicking them.. looks like this-

I've just spent the last half hour creating profiles on all projects I've joined. I've made them all the same, here's a sample- http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/view_profile.php?userid=715

And this, folks, is how brainstorms like this are created-

[4:45pm] <@dapoohda> I still say "we" should suggest "our" team members complete project profiles so said profiles might be voted on and the team get noticed...
[4:45pm] <@dapoohda> But I suspect that is the tap water talking
[4:46pm] <@fesstess> I don't have a groovy picture like yours
[4:47pm] <@paul_l> yessir, i will get on that
[4:47pm] <@fesstess> Paul has a good one already
[4:47pm] <@dapoohda> we can all use pictures from TSU
[4:48pm] <@paul_l> i do?
[4:48pm] <@paul_l> oh maybe seti
[4:48pm] <@paul_l> that's the only one i've done
[4:49pm] <@paul_l> we could put lewd and suggestive text in there
[4:49pm] <@fesstess> well I'm only on 3 projects, so wouldn't be to hard
[4:51pm] <@paul_l> how can you have a huge stats sig thingie with just 3 projects?
[4:51pm] <@dapoohda> http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/3089/61/1600/IMG_1220c.jpg
[4:52pm] <@paul_l> yo dawg wassup
[4:53pm] <@fesstess> It's not that huge,   just average size
[4:53pm] <@paul_l> Error:Error: ContentContent notnot foundfound
[4:54pm] <@fesstess> don't want a huge stats thingie with a bunch of 0's for RAC
[4:57pm] <@paul_l> http://members.cox.net/pbroussard/pictures/yo_dawg%20071.jpg
[4:59pm] <@dapoohda> *woof* got RAC?
[5:14pm] <@CyberSchnook> OK, I gotta run and do profiles for all my projects, which will read the same--I believe we're not alone in the universe and this project will find them.
[5:16pm] <@fesstess> wanna do mine too?
[5:17pm] <@CyberSchnook> I'll need your id and password, which will then be changed to mine, so all your boxen will belong to me. Deal?
[5:18pm] <@fesstess> ok I got mine..." I run seti cause someone told me alien chics were hot"
[5:20pm] <@dapoohda> Well, I run SETI 'cause some Alien told me I would get hot chics
[5:21pm] <@dapoohda> meanwhile, someone broke 100k
[5:40pm] <@MikeC> lol
[5:41pm] <@fesstess> ok  did my seti profile
[5:41pm] <@fesstess> could use a pic though
[5:43pm] <@paul_l> must have pic!
[5:43pm] <@MikeC> use some porn
[5:44pm] <@fesstess> need a pic of the dark spot on Uranus
[5:44pm] <@paul_l> dadapooh, i have created a prodile for einstein, and LHC- http://lhcathome.cern.ch/view_profile.php?userid=54346
[5:45pm] <@paul_l> so far

[5:45pm] <@MikeC> http://www.desktopgirls.com/list_thumbs_res_1600.asp?category_id=3
[5:46pm] <@dapoohda> pr0n~ r
[6:08pm] <@paul_l> an excellent idea, sir. i've created a profile for most all projects i've joined
[6:08pm] <@paul_l> Praise! We must spread the Word!
[6:09pm] <@fesstess> I'm trying to change the pic in mine but it won't take,  pic is right size
[6:10pm] <@paul_l> would you care to spread the word to our brethren, brother dapoohda?
[6:11pm] <@dapoohda> It is 40 degrees cooler today compaired to yesterday
[6:11pm] <@dapoohda> paul_l I think they would take your word more seriously
[6:12pm] <@fesstess> you are the leader of the flock
[6:12pm] <@paul_l> fesstess, shift reload to refresh
[6:12pm] <@paul_l> no i'm not, i just have no life
[6:12pm] <@paul_l> heheh

[6:15pm] <@fesstess> see the size those thangs
[6:16pm] <@paul_l> my, what a Huge RAC!
[6:16pm] <@fesstess> now I got a big RAC
[6:17pm] <@fesstess> now on to einstein
[6:18pm] <@paul_l> hey wait
[6:18pm] <@paul_l> lemme find it
[6:18pm] <@fesstess> what?
[6:19pm] <@paul_l> hyperlink for your profile text -Team Starfire World BOINC

[6:20pm] <@CyberSchnook> I'm born in 1950 (so you can calculate my current age instead of looking at a stale number), grew up at

[6:20pm] <@CyberSchnook> 41°41'39.07"N 72°55'21.41"W.

[6:20pm] <@CyberSchnook> 1 box crunching alone 23/7 (AV scan) since 15 May 1999.
[6:20pm] <@CyberSchnook> I believe we're not alone in the universe and this project will find them.
[6:21pm] * @CyberSchnook has spoken.
[6:21pm] <@paul_l> use that text when you create text in your profile, and it will show a link in your profile
[6:21pm] <@dapoohda> "I was told there would be porn. And cookies."
[6:22pm] <@paul_l> umm, use whoah. there isn't?
[6:22pm] <@fesstess> I wanna come to the dark side too
[6:22pm] <@paul_l> well that came out well

Just be aware that you can't vote right away on all projects; some review profiles before the public can see them.

However, when they are available, vote here:

I also just went around and created profiles on most projects. I did it for a slightly different reason though. I found a site that keeps up with UOTD at most projects. http://www.myboinc.com/

We only need four more UOTD nods to make the top ten teams there.

Yeah, I got that as well. Perhaps he just created it, and it will show up soon.

BTW Schnook, you have this line, "I believe we're not alone in the universe and this project will find them", on all of your profiles. Might want to remove it from the non-Seti projects.

Nice site, but there is a serious flaw. They continue to award UOTD points when a project doesn't update. Take purplegrrl, who is #2 on the user rankings, for example. She has received 13 consecutive UOTD credits, in 13 days for CPDN, because they have not updated in that long. Obviously, this seriously screws up the user and team rankings. They need to tweak their script so that it only awards one credit for one consecutive day, per project. As it is now, it's luck of the draw as to who gets lucky enough to be chosen UOTD the day before a project decides not to update for awhile.

Re: Let's get our project Profiles created!

Once again, this begs the question: what are we about?  The science, or stats ho's? And I think UOTD rankings are particularly irrelevant.

I'm much more concerned that Spinhenge has been reporting "project is down" for 3 days now.
