Right here. At TSWB.

We're in the loop on just about every darn distributing computing project known to man.

All because the Seti@Home project showed the world that distributed computing works, and works very well. So well, that the next step was for the team to develop this awesome DC project engine that runs a multitude of projects called BOINC.

We saw it over 2 years ago, and knew that BOINC is the future of distributed computing. Time and time again people wanting to develop a DC project can just post about interest on a BOINC team site like ours and they'll be stunned how many people will flock to a new project, if nothing but to check it out. Within a few weeks, they'll many many people join, and flooded with teams also.

I have to admit I've become a DC freak, running a good dozen or so projects across the fleet. It's my hobby, and is an absolute blast (well, if everything is running smoothly, that is)! BOINC has really matured, the vast majority of DC users/teams out there have embraced it, making it a researcher's dream tool.

Everyone who came with us to develop this site and all our projects, old friends and new ones-      We Have Done It!

Hear hear! Times have not changed but places have. SETI@Home became different with BOINC and the members of this team chose to change and become better and diversified.

I've said it before: Team Starfire lives on at TSWB.org!

well, I read this post and realize it sounds like a yay us kind of thread, which wasn't my intent initially.

It's just that several times this past month I've seen projects literally pop out of nowhere, and have a flood of new users within days. It just reinforced the knowlege of the BOINC community in my mind. I still marvel at the immensity of distributed computing.

A reason to never stop running Seti@Home, IMHO.

Sorry I didn't reply earlier, I;ve been a bit busy .  But you're exactly right Paul.  I love it when a new project comes along so I can check it out.  I won't always run new stuff, but the range of BOINC projects is getting amazingly diverse.  And I can say that the lack of politics and secret cabals make it much more fun to just go out and crunch for
