Let's jump start this puppy
 (United States)

I just joined up and am crunching a 58 day wu.  I know we have a bunch of memebers here that crunched CPDN, so join up even if you're not crunching.

Go TSWB!

The WUs are long but they report after every 24 hours of crunching, but please don't start one if you don't intend to finish it.

Re: Let's jump start this puppy

This ClimatePrediction is new to me , but according to what I'm reading on my BOINC task manager I have done 233 hours completed with only a little over 5% done. Says It will take about 2900 more hours to complete my work unit. I don't know if that's good or bad. I let it run 24/7 just to try and get it done on time. I've got until 2/14/2008 until it needs to be done.I'll just have to let it run, and see what happens I guess.

LT, that sounds about right, without knowing what system it's running on. They take months to complete, mine says 550 hours into it, 26% done, 1536 hours left to do. This is a single core Dothan cpu @2270 mhz. Pretty quick core, but only single threaded.

It's got a long time to finish, so I just let it take a share on one machine.

Re: Let's jump start this puppy

Thanks for the info Paul and Kinguni for the info on how long it takes for it to get done. Wish I had another machine to run it on strictly. Right now I have The ClimatePrediction running at 75% and I have WCG Agent running at 100% and WCG running on BOINC at 75%. Good thing I have a large empty computer with plenty of ram to run all this stuff.

Dell Dimension 4600 with 1 GIG Ram 80 GIG hard drive running windows XP Professional. Cable DSL.

So far no problem running all this stuff plus being able to jump on the net anytime I need to.

I just added CPDN to a machine to crunch, so that one is crunching seti, rosetta, and CPDN.

So Do we have a main chat room where everyone hangs out and talks or did I just miss it?

Sure, http://66.158.38.12/prcity/java/starfire.html or if you are handy with mIRC, then it's irc.teamstarfire.net, #team_starfire.

We're not always chatting, but hang around and something will happen.

Re: Let's jump start this puppy

Well, I figured I'd give it another try. Since this hardware is completely different from the setup that crashed CPDN all the time, I'll try it again and see if I can actually get some credit this time around. Oh, and I've changed teams not that I'm brining anything along. :)

I installed a optimized version of SETI and it deleted all of my WU. Then they were out of work. What better time to switch back to Climate Prediction till they get some work going again? Ill eventually be 100% at this, but not for a while.
