Work Unit Completition
 (Canada)
Just wondering, has anyone completed a work unit?  Mine give computational error at about 15%.  Don't think ever been past that mark.

Mine aborted around the same place.  Not sure, but I'm holding off on reattaching to the project until I find out that wus can be completed.

I had that problem on this computer and gave up on CPDN after that on this box. The one computer I have running it now seems to be doing fine, and I completed one on my old P3 a long while back. I'm tempted to give it another shot on this box now that I've changed out the ram. CPDN seems to be a little more sensitive than other apps to errors.

Participants complete CPDN models every day. I personally have not had one finish yet. Since most of the crashes have been due to other things and not directly the CPDN program I have kept trying. Part of the problem is the length, it gives more chance for a transient problem to kill alot of effort.

Well, so much for this round of CPDN. I'll send my resources elsewhere for a while.

I've not had any problems on the 2 intel machines running CPDN. I actually completed one a week or so ago, here- http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/result.php?resultid=5676006
It was done on a 1.7 Dothan @2250mhz using an Asus adapter on a P4P800 board.

I did something stupid a few days ago. I noticed some old sulphur models taking up space and I got delete happy. Deleted part of the current model too and had to get a new one at 50% ish.

After switching to this project full time, I tweaked some settings. Im running short models now, and just completed two full units of them. Also, I had alot of units go bad on resets. I started snoozing Boinc before doing a restart, and it helps bunches.

I've got one short and one long running on this box, although the time to completion on the short one seems to be growing now!

Amen.  I do this always after learning the hard way on a few CPDN wu's.  I even do this when I'm not running CPDN!

Activity > Suspend Computation > wait till CPU reaches zero > File > Exit > reboot

Work Units are much happier when you make a point to always do this.

I am about 5% away from finishing another big one (~3.5 months), which will probably be my last for a bit.  Gotta catch up with QMC and SIMAP!

I haven't run CPDN in a long time because it notoriously would fail if BOINC paused seti and started CPDN while i was gaming.
