I will be doing what I can here. Been having a slight problem with this computer that I have to trace. I will have to take it apart and clean it. It seems to want to overheat lately. I ram Seti for a bit the last day or so and it smelled like insulation cooking down here and my computer shut off. I'll probably look at it tomorrow some time after work. Until then, I will still pump out some WUs here and there.

Sounds like either your PSU fan quit, your HSF is not cooling, or your GPU is failing.
I'd put money on the PSU fan failing. Had mine do that last year. Man what a stink

Just did a quick check just now and the CPU HS/Fan is good. There is a slight bit of a dusty residue, but it is far from being clogged. The fan is running great. The GPU is a little more dusty, but again not bad at all. It was in fact the PSU fan. This is the second 120mm fan I put in it. I have no idea why they keep going on me. I never had that problem before.
I guess I am going to shut down Seti till this weekend when I can go out and buy a new fan for the PSU.

theirs nothing like the smell of over heating wiring when that fan goes.

Just had the same thing happen to me last weekend, system shut down once so i opened it up and the GPU fan had failed on my nvidea card, luckily i had a similar card laying around that died a little while back (popped most of it's caps). Swapped out the fans and I'm all good now.

I am returning to SETI for awhile - wasn't there a way to run Multibeam on CPU and GPU at the same time? CUDA FAQ's say no right now.

I know I did that like a year ago. Any advice on what I should crunch now (MB vs. AP)? Single cruncher - i7 920 + GTX 260.
Thanks
