Requesting Prayers  (United States)
Modified By paul on 3/17/2009 12:55:17 PM

I will be having surgery on my jaw at the LSU Medical Center in Shreveport La. (1501 Kings Hwy) on Wednesday the 18th. They will be removing the small bone from my lower right leg to build me a new lower left jawbone from the center on my chin to the joint just below and in front of my ear. There will be 4 surgeons working on me and the surgery should last about 8 hours. After the surgery I should be in the ICU for 3~4 days and then in a regular room for 10~14 days before coming home. I asked them to take pictures during the surgery so I can send everybody pics that want to see them. My recovery time at home should be 6~8 weeks and then I should be able to go back to work. I have been out from work since October 31th. Once I get in a regular room I will have my laptop and phone so I will be able to contact everyone and let them know how the surgery went. Carol should be there for my entire stay. She will make the 1st round of calls on Thursday and hopefully I will be able to make some cell phone calls and emails Saturday or Sunday.

Re: Requesting Prayers  (United States)

I was released from the hospital yesterday morning. They changed up my surgery due to some concern of blood flow to my foot if they removed the small leg bone with the veins. The doctors removed the left side of my lower all the way up to the joint and replaced it with Titanium. This will stay in place for about 4 months and then it will be removed and bone will be removed from my hip and possibly a small rib bone (to recreate joint) to replace the Titanium. Approx 6 month later they will do implants so I can have some teeth again.

Paul

I'll upload some pics as soon as I figure out how. :o and thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.

I wouldn't wish this on anybody! I've had some really great doctors but it is still a bit much.
