TightVNC, Win7 64 working  (United States)
Modified By paul on 9/14/2009 12:05:19 AM
Always been a fan of TightVNC over other VNC variants because it's free, supports file transfers and is faster than other variants. Haven't been using it for a while since they haven't worked with windows 64 bit OS'es. Looks like since May (or earlier), www.tightvnc.com/ has worked with 64 bit windows OS'es. I currently have it working with Win7 32 bit viewing an XP Pro client, next up is a Win7 64 box, will let you know how it goes.

Maybe I can say goodbye to RDP, with it's clunky connect/disconnect and problems with BOINC CUDA clients.

edit- working fine from a WIn7 32 to Win7 64 client. Will check XP to Win7 64 later

I'm pretty impressed with the Win7 RDP improvements. Can even handle full screen video now (provided both PCs have the right codec) And if you can direct connect drives now.

My problems are with GPU crunching. Using RDP usually trashes the wu your working on and all subsequent, until the box is restarted.

Plus I just love x'ing out of VNC variants and your done, no extra steps needed.

This was discussed on Seti recently and IIRC they basically said any remote connection is going to cause your GPU WUs to epically fail. I dont recall their being a workaround since you are forcing the GPU to do 2 things at once.
