I quit smoking! I'm in my third week and doing fairly well. Still some tense moments at times where I would normally smoke but I'm getting through them. The worst is just before bed but I've managed to find ways to keep pretty busy right up until bed time and that has helped.

Stick a fork in me! I'm done! I'm slidding in with both feet, a cold beer in one hand, a hot blonde on the other and yelling "YeeHaw! What a ride!"

That's fantastic! I'm going on 8 years smoke free myself. It's not easy, but it's certainly worth it!

Good job, I quit about 10 years ago, right before my first kid was born.   Not an easy task~  [EMO]cool.gif[/EMO]

WTG buddy!!!  you've already figured out why most people fail when they try to quit.  keep yourself occupied and you've done half the work. before long you won't have much cravings left.

Keep your mind and body busy and you'll feel better for it.

Thanks all!

Keeping busy has been fairly easy so far. I started out during my first 2 weeks by updating and re-organizing my website when I wasn't at work. That was a major task and helped out greatly. This week was a little tougher to find things to do so I downloaded and signed up for a free trial of WoW which has helped out. I've also been goofing around with a bunch of apps on facebook to help kill time and keep my mind occupied.

One thing that I think really helped emmensely was that my GF weaned me down from 1/2 a pack a day to 6 cigs a day which I've been at for about the last year or so. Then about 3 months or so ago I switched to lights and stayed at the same 6 per day. Having cut back that far it wasn't to much of a step to quitting which I've also gotten help from my doctor on that part.

Congratulations!  I quit in 1978,  I had a 5 pack a day habit...the best thing I ever did.

Thanks!

That's cool I live over in Lakeside.

Well I made it past the 1 month mark this last weekend and have been doing really well. It hasn't been easy but I'm determined to make it through this. The evenings are still the hardest but I've managed to find lots of different things to keep my busy and it sure has helped. I'm so looking forward to hitting the next month and I'm getting a lot of support from my GF and co-workers.

Great work! The support is important. After almost 8 years I still get the odd craving, but the first half a year was definitely the hardest.

I knew that feeling when you were trying to quit smoking. I've been there too. Good luck!
