new addition!
(N/A) Modified By paul on 2/6/2007 5:14:00 PM)

We got Penelope today, we thought it would help ease the heartache of losing Archie 3 weeks ago. She's a rescue Lakeland terrier, 5 months old, she had broke her leg, her former owner gave her up to the Houston area Lakeland Rescue org. Max gave her a wide berth for about an hour, but after a couple hours, they were the best of friends.

She's adjusting very well to her new home, after eating, exploring, and wearing Max out, she's now sleeping in Laurie's arm on the recliner.

We miss Archie terribly, but Penelope looks to be a little darling, being a puppy, she'll occupy us to ease the transition. Here's some pics!

Congratulations on your new addition to the family.

It has been my experience that folks who have no vices have very few virtues

If my wife wasn't alergic to everything, I'd have a puppy as well!

The new addition looks good!

That's great Paul!  She looks like a great dog.

One of our dogs was a rescue dog.  She was twenty pounds under weight when we got her.  We've had her for over three years now and she is doing great.

Congratulations on the newest one!

dang, she's giving us problems getting her house trained.....

anyway, here's a video of Penny finding our fountain- http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1358556734625331557&hl=en

The story behind the rescue is a woman in California had bought her from a puppy mill, didn't realize they were so active, and couldn't keep up with her, especailly after she broke her leg jumping off a high bed. She paid to have major surgery, pin and stuff, and flew her to the Lakey rescue in Houston. To me, that says a lot, realizing a lakeland isn't right for her, and going to such lengths to send her off like that.

You're right--there ARE some very honorable folks around.  We just don't hear about them enough.

I can't have a dog here--very depressing. :(
