With the new system up and running, I noticed that it started up and was running a CUDA work unit and the four cores were pretty much idle.  Is there a way to get all of it running SETI?  When I was doing the installation/testing procedure and noticed the CUDA was running, I thought I would look for the SSSE3 optimized app to get the cores working at their full potential.  When I did this the 16 CUDA work units disappeared and I can no longer get CUDA based units.

I am sure that running SETI on the four CPU cores is better than one CUDA app running on a NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT (255MB).

Any ideas would be more than welcome!

Is there anything I need to do?  Should I delete the previous ssse3 extensions that I already installed?  Should I let my current cache drain first?

I had Seti only in my profile, but I see that this uses Astropulse V5.  I have Seti, Astropulse and Astropulse V5 all enabled now.  Let me know if there is anything else I need to do.  This way I can give all that I can for the team.

Thanks

No need to remove anything. just install over whats there.  THe unified opt app covers all the bases and should have the app_info ready to go.  just remember it is beta so it may have a few quirks still

Okay, thank you.

I am going to run my SEEE3 work units till they are gone first so I don't lose them.  Then I will do the install and see what happens.

Is it now possible to run these optimised apps together with another project?

From what I understand, you can run SETI with your GPU and any other project(s) on your CPU.  The trouble is getting SETI to run on the GPU and on your CPU.

I decided to look at the app_info file and saw that it also includes the SSSE3 SETI.  From what I had read before it seemed as though I could only run Astor Pulse_v5 with the CUDA enabled application.  But now that I took the time to look into the app_info file, I know that I can run both.  So my first CUDA work units have downloaded and I am now crunching my first one as I type this!

The problems from what I've read has been keeping GPU and CPU happy while running one project, and different BOINC version handle things differently with none of them doing it perfect.

That could very well be.  I just glanced over some posts all over the net.  Some were a little old so maybe when it first started there was a problem.  Either way, I am crunching away at a faster rate with this one machine than I have ever crunched for this team with several computers running.  It is making me want to build a new system once I get back to work and get some bills caught up.  I would love to see the performance of those new Intel Core i7-965 combined with two GeForce GTX 295 graphics cards.  That would be one serious cruncher.  Just a little out of my league though, although one can always dream...
