Enhanced 5.12 vs. 5.28 ?
 (N/A)
Noticed that my BOINC Manger was an older version (5.8.something) and updated it to the latest one - 5.10.20

At the same time, I added my Mac to BOINC; getting 5.10.20 as well. I signed it up for SETI only (at this moment).

When it downloaded the WUs, I saw that the application listed was the Enhanced 5.28 version. However, when I look back at my Windows machine, the WUs that it has are Enhanced 5.12.

Is there a major difference between the two? Do I need to remove/delete the 5.12 versions... or will they run fine and be replaced with 5.28 ones? Or is there something else that I should download?

Thanks,

Jeff

I think you need to be running at least a 5.22 version of the SETI app (or an optimized version based on that). There were some changes to handle the multi-beam data.

Won't it update itself as long as there is no optimized app with it's associated app_info.xml file?

(edit) BTW, I don't think the latest SETI optimized news was actually posted here on TSWB, there were a spate of BOINC and optimized Seti updated apps, bugs found and fixed, and now it looks pretty solid for everyone who has stayed away from the very latest updates. If you are running an old optimised  SETI client, you need to update your client as listed, so you can download and crunch the new multibeam work units. Either delete your optimized version or install the new version. If the old wu's haven't run out already, they soon will, and you'll be out of work. (/edit)

His Mac is running stock Seti apps, his Windows machine still has the old app_info file, preventing him from downloading the multibeam clients..

Go here for the latest Windows multibeam optimized apps- http://calbe.dw70.de/seti.html I typically shut down BOINC, go in boinc/projects/seti folder and delete the KWSNxxx.exe, KWSN_DEBUG.pdb and app_info.xml files, and drop the new ones in their place, restart BOINC.

Not quite sure what happened with the old lunatics.at site we used to get optimized apps from, last I heard Chicken was extremely busy and couldn't update his site, so Crunch3r hosted them on his. It's been a while, and lunatics.at still is not updated, so who knows.

Mac multibeam optimized builds are up at Berkeley's ftp site, here's a list for you- http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=31810&nowrap=true#656269

Hope you get it all settled in and humming along..

Thanks Paul...

Deleted the app_info file and inserted the files for the latest optimized apps in place. Everything looks ok now (BOINC shows enhanced 5.28).
