Welcome home GriffTech.  Glad you finally found us.

Ask away! You might get answers to your questions, and if you're really lucky, some of them may be right .

Re: Sure is quiet in here!!

Well to begin I set BOINC to get 10 days worth of tasks and when I went home over lunch it was set back to .25 and BOINC wasn't running. I made sure to hit Update last night when I changed my settings.

Also I was lookign at the Tab in the BOINC client that shows what looks to be a graph of average untis or something and don't see much. Maybe I am reading it wrong, but it looks liek completed units on the Y axis but there are no points on the graph to denote units over time etc.

Where did you change the 10 days?  Safest bet is to change it on the project website.  For you, I'm assuming it's seti but it works the same way in most projects.

In your account at http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/home.php

Click on the Computing Preferences link.  Change the values to whatever you want them to be, then save them.  Then go into boinc manager on your computer and hit update.

Setting local preferences in the boinc client is iffy, I'm not sure it works 100% of the time.

For the graphs, you need to get some results granted before any of that shows up in your client program.  Y axis is in "cobblestones" (or credits as we sometimes call them) and x is time.  The X axis will start to populate when you're granted credit for the results you turn in.

Credits aren't granted immediately, there's a quorem system and I believe at least two people need to turn in valid results for a wu before they're granted any credit.

Hope this helps.

Damn Chris! 1 day back running and over 1000 credits already!

Now, about your cache. You can set it to 10 days, but don't. Keep it down to 3 days or so, and maybe set yourself up with a backup project. There are many to choose from, and you can set the amount of cpu share lower if you want SETI@Home to get most of your cycles. Looking through the work you have many WU's have already been marked redundant and won't be crunched.

Personally I keep my cache low (.8 days I think), knowing that my internet connection is stable, and I stay attached to at least 2 projects per computer.

Re: Sure is quiet in here!!

I have all my projects configured to connect every 0.01 days (forces reporting faster) with an additional 5 days' worth work.  Seems to keep my queue loaded up and results flowing back nicely.
