Personal Milestone....
 (United Kingdom)

Sometime in the evening of Sunday, about 18:00hrs UT, I should finally pass the magic, and phycological, 200,000 barrier. I have managed to increase my output this week to around 720 a day from the earlier 620 a day, despite the fact that my trusty old P4HT 3.0 has finally died. There is no reviving this one, the CPU fried in the night as the retention pins for the cooler failed and it detached from the cpu..

I may try to find a CPU on ebay to revive the machine, but it is not a priority, as I am starting to put the cash on one wide to buy the parts for..not one, but TWO QX6700 CPU based crunchers. I have tried to find a dual CPU mainboard that will support the QX6700, but not even Supermicro make one ..so the only alternative is two seperate machines... I have worked out that with the current machines, my average should rise from the current 5400 a week to around 20,000 a week. However this will involve a LOT of cash and I am not as flush as I once was so this will be an ongoing project for the next three to four months. I estimate No 1 should be online in about 8 weeks..then the board above better watch out as I will be on the stomp again..

Re: Personal Milestone....

It's always sad when your old trusties die.

I dread the day when my AMD64 3000+ will give in I also know that it is the mainboard that is going to do it,

it's already failed the NIC and inbuilt sound... but it's still doing it's job for the moment.

And yes it is always expensive to update, how ever low you try to keep it, it always turn out expensive
