Problems Downloading new WU's
(United States) Modified By Sat_Man on 2/2/2007 10:16:59 PM)

If you are having a problem downloading new WU's the last few days here is a quick fix.

1. Shut down Boinc.

2. Open the Boinc folder and find the "master_setiathome.berkeley.edu.xml" file.

3. Right click and select EDIT.  You will see something like this in the file.  "<scheduler>http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi</scheduler>"

4. Copy this address less the quotes and paste it over the old address in the file. "<scheduler>http://128.32.18.173/sah_cgi/cgi</scheduler>"

5. Save the file and restart Boinc.

I had to do this to half my farm.  For some reason some uses the old address fine and the others won't.  Thanks goes to Pappa on the SETI forum for this fix.

Thanks!  This should be in a sticky or FAQ someplace..

this was happening to just one of my boxes and I couldn't figure out why..  I was going to let it run out of work and reset the project...  your instructions worked perfectly!

It's been a pain.  I played with it for a couple days and still haven't figured out why some work fine and others don't!

It's a matter of DNS records not being updated as one of their IP's changed. Should resolve on it's own at some point.

I simply cancelled those downloads and - just to be sure - restarted BOINC. Took me no more that ten seconds per client

Re: Problems Downloading new WU's

Thanks Sat-Man, I had about 35 units waiting in the queue to upload and a similar number to download, now they have all gone and it only took about 5minutes in total to correct the problem.

Well Done...
