I'm detached from seti for the foreseeable future.  I'm splitting my boxes up between Rosetta and WCG for the time being, and giving 10% to a whole bunch of smaller projects.  I think I have 18 active projects right now .

Well, uploads and every other kind of connection with SETI is down again and the cricket graph is nose diving...

how ever it this will continue I will not turn to other projects, but I will start to shut down my PCs.

I did not start this for the other projects, I'm not a fool to be taken advantage of. I did this for the pure science, I don't care for the other projects really.

I've done a few other projects for the time being but if I think SETI wont come back soon to full status, neither will I.

Well, i'm sorry to hear you've decided to stop crunching, and that the science of other projects don't interest you. So because of that I have initiated transfer of team founder on ABC@Home. I believe the founder of a team should at least be interested in it, and crunch the project, and not just want another stat on his/her already oversized sig.

Hopefully Berkeley will get their act together so your box can get get back up and working!

I didn't say that I've decided to stop crunching, I just said that if SETI doesn't get back up, I wont turn to other projects...

I'm not quite sure I understand what you're trying to say.  As you know, we don't care if you put your cycles towards other projects or not, as long as you're happy crunching whatever projects you choose.  I've chosen not to crunch any Seti WU's anymore and will probably return once they get the server/network issues fixed with a box or two.

So don't be so glum, you're still part of the best team on earth!

If you can't beat'em, join'em. Then beat'em.

Ok, since nothing has changed yet, I will.
Late Monday the BOINC developers delivered a BOINC Server version update to the Seti guys, with a fix for the anonymous platform. They caught some sleep, and tried it out Tuesday, it still didn't work. Another update is in the works, another old server died, it was retired, making it the third (?) one retired in the past month.

Splitters are hard pressed to keep up with the demand, since there is a record 2,155,036 work units out there. This is due largely to the anonymous platform part of the Server program being broke, causing the ghost wu problem where the DB thinks you have wu, and is recorded as such, but you don't have the work. Those wu will be stuck in limbo until they expire, then the project can send them back out. Or everyone with ghost wu can detach from Seti, freeing up the wu for re-distributation.

No I suppose you don't, I got into some trouble with the SETI project leaders about things and lets say, it didn't get any better afterwards. I haven't visited the thread at the main SETI forum for a while...
actually, I haven't been able to make my self to, since I really don't want to fight, I don't crunch SETI for the joy of arguing about what have to be done or not, all I know is that the project developers have shown a tendency to fail on their promises and on the development of the project it self.  And we starting to see an endless row of bad excuses why this is so... it's just not good enough really and if there was another project that could take up the competition with Berkeleys SETI I'd love to do that too, maybe a new start, a new spirit, a new inspiration is what is needed to find ETI.

I remember in May 1999 when I heard on TV that there was something called SETI@home and everybody could contribute to trying to find ETI and I was all aroused about it, I felt like finally there was something that the general population could do to help and I really believed in the project.

Nowadays how ever I have a hard time to not stamp it as spam, with their consistent increasing and all more eager attempts on collecting "founding"...

This has nothing to do with "out team", of course this is the best team, I wouldn't be here if it wasn't, and since I've tried out the most teams there are I should know really *lol*

So far so good running chicken with the app_info intact. Downloads are a little slow but that just seems to be a bottle neck from so many people starting back up tonight.

When I look at the smiles on all the children's faces, I just know they're about to jab me with something.
