Just thought you all might like to know that Zeus ( The Xeon Server I have got going) is about to finish it's first four work units under Ubuntu, it will have taken 28 hours and a few minutes when done for each unit, but four simultaneously.
To give you some idea of the benefits of a Linus system over Windows, The P4D 3.4@4.2GHz is taking 37hrs for a pair of units, but the P4D3.4@4.2 running Ubuntu is taking a little under 26 hours per pair.
Also this very same machine took almost 36.5 hours under XP for it's first units..
The resource use under Ubuntu is a heck of a lot less that windows either.
Oddly one machine has W2kPro SP4 on it and it is doing units in a little over 30hrs despite it being a "mere" 3.0GHz P4HT running on a crappy ASRock board that is so slow I almost binned it for SETI where it used to take 7 hours a pair of units!! On a Abit board it took the same CPU only 5.6 hours..
