Not receiving WU's
(N/A) Modified By Bunky on 10/17/2006 1:10:03 AM)
I've been out of work for a couple of days now, but all I get is the message below.  What gives?

10/17/2006 1:01:29 AM|Einstein@Home|Sending scheduler request to http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/EinsteinAtHome_cgi/cgi
10/17/2006 1:01:29 AM|Einstein@Home|Reason: Requested by user
10/17/2006 1:01:29 AM|Einstein@Home|(not requesting new work or reporting completed tasks)

You only need two tools - WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40; if it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

It's probably just BOINC equalizing your project shares. It may have done too much Einstein and not enough of something else so within a day or 2 it should start downloading Einstein for you again.

Can I borrow your WD-40?

maybe I can get Seti to start working again.

WOW! First I can't get a WU from E@h, now this morning I get 30 WU's and each is estimated an hour long.  Say what you want about Boinc  but  it's not real good at allocating time IMHO.  I'm sure I can speak for most here, all we want is a "little" every day.   ( lol, at least the guy's anyways)

I have to agree!  Mine stopped a wu with 03:03:09 to go, due 11/04, in favor of one due 10/28.

With a 100/1/1 share between Seti, uFluids and Spinhenge, tell me 3 hours was putting the 10/28 result in jeopardy. At the moment, Seti is crunching another due 11/01, Spinhenge is sitting with its thumb up its bum, and uFluids is afraid to come near my machine!  Maybe I should hide in the other room, too? :)

You could always just keep your cache set smaller, although even at .8 days I still end up getting a couple of days of work sometimes.

As of now, I've got the new opti-BOINC running like so:

Now it can run itself any way it likes, and let the wu and cobblestones fall where they may.  Am I lazy, oar watt?

Yes, this is very true, almost always when you run more than one project you will get this "(not requesting new work or reporting completed tasks)" or a "Using earliest-deadline-first scheduling because computer is overcommitted" error, and it's almost always wrong and you'll have more time than BOINC thinks.

A way to get more WUs is to "suspend" one project while "send and receive", it works ... sometimes...

I think they have discussed this and thought it was better to be safe than sorry...

For us users how ever this can be a real annoyance, since they really don't think ... just assume...

At least one thing works right--I just watched the hourly project switch; happened to catch it at the top of the hour twice in a row.  Take that, Seti overcommitted! :p
