Detached from E@H.....
 (N/A)

I have detached my machine from Einstien@home as it does weird and not so wonderful things when running it.

Initially I was concerned that it took so long to crunch units when operating E@H, but chose to ignore it, however in the last week I have noticed the crunch times for both E@H and SETI extending into the tens of hours per unit. Suspecting I had a PC problem I started to investigate, but soon discovered that the issue was E@H.

If I run E@H on it's own on this machine, units take about 8 hours, the same is true for SETI, but with both projects attached to BOINC E@H goes weird on me. Crunch times extend out to more than 20 hours for SETI and E@H units to over 30hrs.

I have found no information on this on either FAQ and a trawl round the forums has not bee helpful either, so I have resolved to stop E@H until I can get my other machine back online and I will simply run E@H on that machine and not have two projects attached in one BOINC installation. However it could be several weeks before I get time to investigate and repair the machine..till then it is SETI on it's own at home!

Hey James, I don't see anything obvious in your results. One thing to try is setting BOINC to leave applications in memory which is set on your general settings page. Of course, with a cache set to 7 days you won't run out of WU's just running SETI.

At Team Starfire World BOINC we run whichever projects we like and if you want to give 100% to our core project, that works for me!

Ron, that is how I have it set, It has always been like that.

Regarding running the project, I want to run it, and will run it again, just on the other machine once I get it running again..tracked the problem to a faulty graphic card I think so will try to get one today. I should actually turn in more results having a whole machine running E@H instead of sharing resources on this one.
