August 3, 2006
A recent update of McAfee security software on Windows causes BOINC 5.4.9 to not work. We have released a new version, 5.4.11, that fixes the problem and works with the latest McAfee software.

I saw that there a couple of days ago. I haven't let McAfee anything touch my computer n years though.

I don't have any McAfee stuff, either.  Except for an EICAR virus test file I got from them.  However, I thought I'd pass this along here in case someone does have it.

I upgraded and it seems to be crunching along quite happily on E@H.  It'll go peek at LHC in about 20 minutes.  It was this version that said that RALPH is asleep, too.

this new laptop from Dell came with 1 1/2 year sub. to McAfee security suite, no problems here.

Just realized after the S4 stuff on einstien ended and I no longer need the calibrater, I should now probably upgrade... anything I should look out for going from 5.2.13?

I don't remember a problem, either. 

Remember, it activates the BOINC screensaver, so if you don't want it, you'll have to go change it after the install.  I don't run a screensaver, as the processing for it, especially the Einstein one, just takes away from crunching.
