It's been open in a tab here hours after they got them in. We've been watching them closely.. I haven't pulled the trigger. As usual, everyone is charging $40-$60 premium for them and they released them to OEM builders, so all you get is a 90 day warrantee. I might wait a bit, I dunno. Huge improvement in crunch times over the current version, with redesigned cpu, more l2 cache and new instruction set.

Greeri found a retail version at TankGuys, so we're starting to see some retail versions in stores, which is a plus. Microcenter has the Oem's now for $306 shipped, with a gift card that automatically adds to your cart for $50 off.
Just ordered one!

I ordered the one from Tankguys, should ship today. So we will have a couple running soon to see how well they do.

Looks like Tankguys ran out and are not taking orders. I need to go ahead and get one from Microcenter before they run out.

I tried, really I did, but I just couldn't resist. Pulled the trigger on one of the q9450's. I should be picking it up tomorrow, so I'll report back very soon.

On a related note- Fry's online Q6600 $190- http://www.frys.com/product/5101696 Fry's and Micro Center have been having the Q6600 for $190-$200 in store only, every week it seems, one of them post them for that price online. They usually only last a few hours....

Got mine in hand. I'll be installing it in an x38 chipset motherboard (Gigabyte ga-ex38-ds4). Hopefully sometime tonight I'll have something to report.

Awright! Congrats on the new toy! Here's hoping it kicks some work unit butt.

Ok, preliminary findings:
gets to 3.6ghz with a modest voltage bump of about .05v. it's running under load at 1.22v, bios is set at 1.275.
I'm having trouble booting over 433fsb, but once booted runs up to 450fsb pretty easily. Motherboard seems touchy, so I'm going to try it in a different board sometime this weekend if I get the chance.
It replaced a g0 also running at 3.6ghz. It crunched Einstein work units in around 3:40, and at the same clock is looking at times around 3:05 or so. I'll report more exact times tomorrow.
Temps are running around 50c, but I think it's partly due to a rough install. I had some trouble getting the HSF on and I think it may have messed with the grease. I'll try again tomorrow night and see if the temps drop.
That's it so far...

Update:
The G0 it replace was actually running at 3.33 ghz, not 3.6
The q6600 G0, 3.33ghz optimized was turning in times around 3:45 and the q9450 3.6ghz optimized is turning in times around 3:05.
Adjusting for clock speed, it looks like the q9450 is roughly 9% faster than the q6600 on optimized Einstein. Some of that may be memory speed. g0 was running 380fsb where this is running 450.
Gotta tweek the bios settings some more before I can draw any hard conclusions.

Just got mine up and running this evening. Mine is on a P35-DS4. So far it's looking good. Only been up a short time but it is crunching Milkyway noticably faster at a lower OC than my Q6600s. Gotta let it run the night to see how it does on Einstein and Seti.

Ok, it's definately not the chip, it was the motherboard.
I got frustrated trying to get the q9450 to boot over 433mhz fsb, so I pulled it out of the x38 and dropped it into TheBeast, my water cooled ga-p35-ds3p. Booted up right away at 450mhz fsb. A little playing around, and it's now running stable at 3.76ghz, fsb of 470. It booted at 3.8ghz, but wouldn't run stable. So far, I'm happy running it as is, but will play around with the memory timings later.
I also picked up some OCZ Reaper ddr2-1066 memory for it, and will be playing around with the timings over the next few days

Here's where I'm at right now:

Vitals
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P
Memory: OCZ Reaper DDR2-1066
Running really nice now with optimized einstein times at around 2:51.
