Open Box Boards?
 (United States)
Any opinions on Open Box motherboards from newegg? They are significantly cheaper than retail. Only downside that I can see is 15 day return policy instead of 30.

Re: Open Box Boards?
 (N/A)
I've bought many overt he past 6 years or so, but have pretty much quit buying them. My problem is getting them tested before that 15 day period. Plus, while the 7-8 I bought over that period worked out fine, the last one was DOA. Not quite sure how they sort them, if indeed the ones they put up as open box are returns, people change their minds, or if they include boards people claim are defective. Since it is a DIY retailer, I feel certain many boards are returned as defective when there was some sort of tweak that needed to be done, bios flash or the buyers had the wrong peripherals, so they couldn't get it going.

What's your time worth is the question you should ask yourself? It varies from person to person. It will probably work out, but you must take that risk.
